Training

Fresh Expressions

There are a number of training opportunities available through Fresh Expressions in Lincolnshire.

Mission Shaped Ministry

mission shaped ministry is a one-year, part-time course aiming to train individuals and teams for pioneer ministry in Fresh Expressions of church within a mixed economy church.

Those who come on mission shaped ministry tend to do so:

  • as individuals and as teams, although teams tend to work best;
  • as they prepare to start a Fresh Expression of church;
  • once they have already started a Fresh Expression of church;
  • as leaders and members, clergy and lay people, learning side by side.

mission shaped ministry is in its eighth year in Lincolnshire. The current course started in May 2009 and for the first time is specifically designed for churches in a rural setting. Coaches on the course include Pete and Kath Atkins, Simon and Ann Baker, Bob and Mary Hopkins and specialists involved in rural mission. If you want to find out more about msm contact Kath Atkins at kathatkins@ntlworld.com.

Mission Shaped Intro

mission shaped intro explores the ‘why' of creating Fresh Expressions of church rather than the ‘how'. The six week course takes you on a journey looking at the ever-changing nature of our social communities and explores why the church needs to rethink its approach to those communities in meaningful and relevant ways.

The ninety minute sessions are delivered through presentation, movie clips and stories with active group participation. It is ideal for those who are starting from scratch as well as those who have attended a vision day or who are maybe thinking about joining the mission shaped ministry course.
