Diocesan Advisory Council
The Church of England (and certain other denominations) is exempt from Listed Building Consent. This means that proposals for alterations to churches and churchyards are considered by the DAC and recommendations are made to either the Chancellor or Archdeacons of the Diocese, who have the power to grant Faculties. Faculties are always necessary when large projects are proposed (such as re-roofing the nave) and are often needed for smaller projects.
