Trusts and Parish Property
Financial, Land and Buildings
In the Diocese of Lincoln around 1500 ecclesiastical and charitable trusts and parish properties are vested in the Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF) as a Diocesan Authority Custodian Trustee.
For the great majority of these trusts the Parochial Church Council (PCC) or the Incumbent and Churchwardens of the parish concerned are the Managing Trustees and they are responsible for the day to day management of the trust affairs and property. However, by virtue of statutory provisions a PCC or Incumbent and Churchwardens may not hold or acquire an interest in land (other than a short lease) or any interest in personal property to be held as permanent trusts, such interest shall be vested in the Diocesan Authority.
