This event is now fully booked.
Talking to God; Listening to God; With and Without Words.
An event focusing on Personal Prayer for anyone who wants to enrich their prayer life.
The day will cover saying ‘Please’ – this is sometimes called ‘intercession or ‘petition’. The discipline of praise and thanksgiving goes hand in hand with the practice of intercession.
Saying ‘Sorry’ – focusing on ‘penitence.’ being aware of how much in our lives is unloving.
Saying ‘Ouch’ – a prayer of lamentation in which our suffering and sorrow are offered to God.
Saying Nothing – This part will be about contemplation and deepening the life of prayer by setting words aside and learning to listen more closely to God.
The event will take place at Edward King House, Minster Yard, Lincoln, LN2 1PU
The Diocesan Lent Course for 2025 will focus on Personal Prayer as part of the the Bishop of Lincoln’s emphasis on ‘raising the spiritual temperature’. The Course will be launched at the Teach Us to Pray II training day on Saturday 23rd November. Everyone is welcome to attend the day, which will be particularly useful to those who wish to lead the Lent Course next year. The course will encourage us to ‘pray it as we say it’ – saying please, saying wow, saying ouch, saying thank you, and saying nothing. All the course materials will be available from 23rd November to give local church leaders plenty of time to plan and prepare.
