There will be a treat in store for Gilbert and Sullivan fans on Saturday 6 April 2024 when ‘The Wandering Minstrels’ make a return visit to St. Mary’s Parish Church, Stamford for “THE WORLD OF GILBERT AND SULLIVAN”. They will sing, act and dance their way through many of the Savoy Operas including “The Mikado”, “Iolanthe”, “The Gondoliers”, “HMS Pinafore”, “The Sorcerer” and “Princess Ida”. Artistes appearing in this Gala concert are Alexandra Hazard, Emma Stratton, Charles Mills, Stephen Godward and Tim Hurst-Brown, with Peter Hewitt at the piano.
Concert tickets are £15 each and are available from the Stamford Arts Centre on 01780 763203, from Helen Drake on 01780 763443 or on the door. Refreshments will be served in the interval. The show begins at 7.30pm and proceeds from the evening will go to St. Mary’s Church. The concert will consist of two hours of Savoy favourites, combining the biting wit of W. S. Gilbert and the enchanting music of Sir Arthur Sullivan. The artistes will be dressed in period costume and the excerpts performed in traditional style.
