This webinar session will feature Ellie Sisson, Prevention Officer – Exploitation for The Children’s Society, and PC Steve Ellis, County Lines Development Officer for Lincolnshire, with the Lincolnshire Police.
Ellie will cover the basics of what exploitation is, spotting the signs and what that would look like for colleagues in the voluntary sector. She will also touch on their #LookCloser partnership campaign which aims to raise awareness of child exploitation and abuse and to encourage the public and businesses to better identify and report concerns.
County Lines sees urban drug gangs, often from major cities, move into suburban areas and market and coastal towns, using a dedicated mobile phone number and vulnerable people to run their criminal operation. These gangs will take advantage of and exploit vulnerable people – both adults and children.
PC Steve Ellis will talk through the current situation in Lincolnshire regarding County Lines, and the key role of those in the voluntary sector in those ‘reachable moments’ to help disrupt that exploitation.
